Star Wars: The Last Jedi Teaser Dropped and…Well, that’s it.

The title of this post says it all. It’s a two minute long teaser that doesn’t show us anything new except the sound of Luke’s voice for the first time in over 30 years. We are still a good 8 months out from the premiere, so this shouldn’t surprise you. The logo unveiling with the red lettering gave us more of a hint about this film than this teaser did. The kicker, however is the poster that dropped tlj poster

While the teaser doesn’t tell us much, there is one line in particular that, in conjunction with this poster and the title, tell us where things are headed. Luke says “The Jedi must end” hence the title. It would appear that Luke has realized the only way for the dark side to be defeated is to move away from the extremes that the Jedi teach. For example, had Anakin been allowed to love Padme and save his mother, his descent to the dark side likely doesn’t happen. This poster shows Rey surrounded by red (the dark side) with blue (the light) cutting through not only the red but also the faces of Luke and Kylo Ren. Rey seems to symbolize a true balance to the force. As we know, the absence of the dark side isn’t balance, true balance must be achieved through a combination of both. Maybe that’s Rey, maybe I’m reaching. Either way, we’ll find out around the day the Church made Jesus’ birthday to attract more followers.
