It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of singer and multi-instrumentalist Dev Hynes, who performs under the name Blood Orange. His last album, Freetown Sound, set a new standard for his already amazing career. Instead of focusing on love ballads with a coastal flair, he shifted his attention to topics such as race, sexuality, and identity. Those love ballads didn’t go away, they just took on a different meaning.
Recently, Blood Orange announced his upcoming album by releasing two new videos. “Charcoal Baby” shows African/black family dynamics and “Jewelry” features Janet Mock. Both singles are really good so it looks like its Blood Orange season once again.
