My Favorite Albums on 2015 So Far [ part. 1]

2014 sucked tremendously as far as album releases go. I don’t think I could name you 15 albums from last year if I tried. Apparently everyone was saving the heat for 2015 because this has been an amazing year in music. Here’s my midpoint of the year list. New ones will come, old ones will go, but either way, I’m glad to have so many on my list. For the sake of brevity, I’ll cut it off at 15. Even though there’s actually way more.

When reading this list, keep in mind 1) This is my list 2)It’s kinda in order but not really 3)If you don’t see your favorite album mentioned ANYWHERE in this post, let me know. I’m always open to listening to new stuff.

15. Rae Sremmurd – Sremmlife

I’m not supposed to like this album. It’s 100% “new nigga music”. They have a terrible name. I could go on. But…they’re just fun. It’s hard not to root for these guys. Their debut doesn’t disappoint.

14. Alabama Shakes – Sound and Color

I’m so proud that The Shakes are out here winning. We really have a light shining over Alabama because of them. Anywho, this album is slightly different from their first album but it still doesn’t disappoint. Plus Brittany Howard’s voice can still blow a house down.

13. Tuxedo – Tuxedo

I’m fairly certain you’ve never heard of Tuxedo. Don’t worry, you’re fine. Tuxedo is Mayer Hawthorne and producer Jake One. They teamed up to make a dance album less annoying than Uptown Funk. This is also the time where I mention Where Does This Door Go is still the best R&B album you’ve never heard of.

12. Wale – The Album About Nothing

Jerry + Wale always equals magic. Not much to say here.

11. Father – Who’s Gonna Get F***** First?

I can’t remember who said it but Father was once described as “Uncle Luke if he had a Tumblr”. Very accurate. This album is full or raunchy lyrics and tons of debauchery.
