Playlist Monday: Don’t Shuffle, Don’t Skip #4 – Mixer

I had been working on this playlist for a while, but it didn’t have any direction so I sat on it. Then on Saturday night, my Ace text me about his mixer he was hosting in Birmingham the following day called “Cocktails on the Farm” “What playlist of yours would you put on for it?” … Continue reading Playlist Monday: Don’t Shuffle, Don’t Skip #4 – Mixer

Stan Culture is annoying and ruining everything

Twitter exists in a dichotomy: once new material is released or a new thought is created, it must be placed into being a classic, or trash. There is no in between. Let me be clear – fandoms are great, they are fun little spaces for us to be part of as we witness an artist … Continue reading Stan Culture is annoying and ruining everything

[Playlist Monday] #WomensHistoryMonth

March is Women’s History Month, so what better way to celebrate a [Playlist Monday] than by celebrating groundbreaking women in the music industry. At first I was going to use BillBoard Charts to find women who broke through with “firsts” and record setting songs, but after awhile I realized there was a distinct lack of … Continue reading [Playlist Monday] #WomensHistoryMonth

[Playlist Monday Special Editions]: 14alentine’s Day, Pronounced Valentine’s Day

Joe eluded to this in his latest Monday recap video via our Twitter page when I dropped this week’s playlist: there was not a hint of love songs within the Posse Cut playlist, so I’m rectifying that for you this Valentine’s Day. I don’t do “mood” playlists, cause what works for some doesn’t work for … Continue reading [Playlist Monday Special Editions]: 14alentine’s Day, Pronounced Valentine’s Day

Don’t Call It A Podcast #14 – Let’s Get In 4:44mation – Jay-Z’s New Album Discussion

Don’t Call It A Podcast – Ep14 – Let’s Get In 4:44mation – Jay’s album marks an interesting point for rap, it has always been seen as “a young man’s game” and therefore subject to trivial and youthful subject matter outside of discussing one’s circumstances growing up. Jay has pushed an envelope to really start digging into infidelity, admitting one’s mistakes and moving forward with an already established relationship.  While other rappers have made songs that were reflective of this, none have really gone as deep as Shawn has on this latest release.

Ron’s Favorite Albums of 2016 (So Far)

Hard to believe we’re almost to the midpoint of the year but here we are. As usual, I’m here to offer my useless opinion about the best, excuse me, my favorite albums of the year. (Changing verbiage to avoid pontification) My disclaimer still stands the same as it does every year: 1) This is simply … Continue reading Ron’s Favorite Albums of 2016 (So Far)
